Since 1894, the East Rutherford Fire Department has developed a rich history of tradition and bravery, generated from the dedicated efforts of its volunteer membership. The mission of the East Rutherford Fire Department is to protect the lives and property of all East Rutherford’s residents, businesses, and visitors.

Morris County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) coordinates multi-agency responses to emergencies and disasters within Morris County. It is responsible for alerting and notifying appropriate agencies when disaster strikes, for coordinating all agencies that respond, ensuring resources are available and mobilized in times of disaster, and in developing preparedness plans and procedures for response to and recovery from disasters.
