Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has extinguished a fire that broke out in an industrial galvanizing factory at Girraween, in Sydney’s west.
More than 20 FRNSW appliances and 60 firefighters responded to the incident in Amax Avenue around 11.45 am. Crews quickly got to work and tackled the intense blaze, which had taken hold in the premises.
Aerial ladder appliance deployed
An aerial ladder appliance was used in the operations to wet the roof, while firefighters worked on the ground to stop it from spreading to other properties.
Crews also protected a large amount of chemicals, which had the potential to further fuel the factory fire. It took approximately one hour to contain the blaze and another few hours to completely extinguish it.
Over 40 people safely evacuated from the premises
More than 40 people were safely evacuated from the premises and there were no reported injuries. Investigations are now underway to determine what caused the fire.
