The NHS Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Mid-Point Event, celebrated last week on November 17, offered a unique platform for KTP Associates, Program Partners, and Senior Health Authorities to meet in person and learn about the development of the KTP projects over the past nine months.

UKAS was represented at this event by Accreditation Director, Lorraine Turner; Accreditation Specialist, Alyson Bryant; Head of Development, Dave Compton; and Senior Assessment Manager, Martin Stearn.

The NHS KTP Program is an NHS initiative that aims to speed up the identification and dissemination of high value new approaches to improving patient outcomes and increasing efficiency, while promoting economic growth and inward investment in the life sciences.

This event marked the mid-point of the current round and brought together senior representatives from across health authorities, including Angela Douglas, Deputy CSO NHS England; Catherine Ross, Chief Healthcare Science Professions Officer, The Scottish Government; Delia Ripley, Senior Program Manager, NHS Wales; and Prof. Ian Young, Chief Scientific Advisor, NI Department of Health; and senior representatives from the National Physical Laboratory, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency and the National Measurement Laboratory.

KTP midpoint event

The current Associates, David Hall, Sarah Misson-Yates, Mary Alikian, Stuart Scott and Ian Butler, presented their project updates, focusing on the achievements so far in collaboration with their project partners and expected future outcomes. To see how our healthcare scientists have developed over the last nine months in their projects and what they’ve achieved, is truly amazing. The successful event offered participants the opportunity to network and visit the National Measurement Laboratories, as part of the activities planned.
